This January, take the Sixty Minute Challenge and start the year with a new goal. Climb as much elevation as you can in sixty minutes. Sounds simple right? Wrong.

From 1st to 31st January 2024, we're giving you the chance to win one of three £250 vouchers to spend at bandofclimbers.com. All you need to do is take the Sixty Minute Challenge and climb as much elevation as possible. But there's a twist.

You may remember back in 2022 we ran the January Elevation Challenge. The concept was the same. Climb as much elevation as you can in 60 minutes. But there were many rules. This time, we've stripped out most of those rules, which makes this a very different challenge.

This time, we have just 2 rules.

1. Your ride must start AND finish in the exact same location.

2. You must finish the ride within sixty minutes, and not a second more.

How you tackle this challenge is up to you. Ride hill reps of the same climb, ride an out and back, or ride a loop. The choice is yours. The only thing that matters, is that you finish back where you started inside sixty minutes. Virtual rides count too, so challenge yourself on Zwift or any other online platform if you choose.

Where's the challenge you might say? Well, the challenge comes from pushing your ability to climb as much as possible, and still save enough time to get back to the start, meaning, you're going to have to descend back. How far do you risk climbing, knowing you're running out of time?

A Personal Challenge

As always, this is NOT a challenge to see who can climb the most elevation worldwide. We're pretty sure A Danish Tour de France winner would be a firm favourite. No, this is a personal challenge against yourself. Try a route, see how many metres or feet you can climb. Then, get back to the finish as quick as you can. Try the route a few times and see if you can beat yourself. The choice is yours.

If you find you've completed your ride but it's taken you 61 minutes, you have two options..... ride it again, but faster, or ride less elevation and still get back to the finish on time.

Everyone across the world can do this. Those who live in the mountains may have greater elevation potential, but those who live in the flat lands may have to get creative.

Win £250 worth of BoC Apparel for Entering

We're giving away 3 x £250 gift cards to spend on our apparel for those who enter and submit their rides. Winners will be chosen from eligible entries at random. Remember, no prizes are awarded for the most elevation, it's your own personal challenge. However.... your entry has to follow the rules.... if it doesn't, you won't be eligible to win. So, a reminder of what we must see in your entry:

1. A ride of 60:00 or less

2. Starting and finishing in the same place

4. We need to see the Strava or ride URL (not your profile URL or a route file)

5. Please name your ride - Band of Climbers Sixty Minute Challenge - so we can find them

6. You can enter as many times as you like, but only unique rides count (you can't enter the same ride multiple times)

7. Entries must take place between 1st and 31st of January 2024. Winners will be announced by email in the first week of February 2024.
